Gooey lash lift powder is Noemi’s answer to a question many lash artists ask: can you do a lash lift without glue? Gooey is a 5 g powder that takes the place of the glue or balm you would normally use to attach the lashes to the silicone pad. It works with lash lifting lotions in general, but it is formulated specifically around the cysteamine-based Noemi Step 1 with Cysteamine.
Paired with that Step 1, Gooey lets you place, separate and lift the lashes without adhesive residue to clean away afterwards. The lotion is applied over the entire lash and processes for 10–14 minutes. For studios that run several lifts a day, dropping the glue stage keeps each appointment streamlined and tidy.
What is Gooey lash lift powder?
Gooey is a lash lift powder from Noemi Professional, sold in a 5 g container. Its purpose is simple: glue-free lash lifting. Instead of painting adhesive onto the pad and then pressing lashes into it, you use Gooey to hold the lashes in position on the pad.
According to Noemi, the 5 g size is enough for multiple applications, which suits busy professionals. The product is designed for Noemi Step 1 with Cysteamine and is compatible with other lash lift lotions, so you can try it within your current system before switching completely.
Always follow the instructions included with the product for the exact way to apply the powder, and keep the container closed after use.
How a lash lift powder replaces glue
In a classic lift, glue or balm has one job: it fixes the lashes to the pad so they stay in the shape you have combed them into while the lotions work. Gooey takes over exactly that job. You still lay the pad on the lid, you still lift and separate the lashes onto it, but the hold comes from the powder rather than an adhesive.
Noemi describes the result, combined with the cysteamine Step 1, as sleek, well-defined lashes with a natural curl. The practical advantage for you is the clean-up: there is no adhesive residue left on the lashes or the pad to remove at the end.
Noemi Step 1 with Cysteamine: the partner lotion
Gooey was built for one lotion in particular. Noemi Step 1 with Cysteamine comes in a practical 10 ml tube and uses cysteamine as a gentle alternative to TGA-based (thioglycolate) products. Noemi recommends it for sensitive lashes.
The processing time stated by Noemi is 10–14 minutes. If you want to understand the chemistry behind the choice, our article on cysteamine vs thioglycolate covers it in depth.
Whole-lash application: simpler and more even
Unlike many conventional lotions, which are applied only to the base or the lower part of the lash, Step 1 with Cysteamine is applied evenly over the entire lash. That sounds like a small detail, but it changes the work. You no longer need to measure exactly where the lotion stops, and the result is more even from lash to lash.
For newer artists, this removes one of the hardest parts of a lift: precise zone application. For experienced artists, it means a faster, calmer routine.

Step by step: a glue-free lash lift with Gooey and Step 1
The sequence below is a general workflow. Timings come from the product information; for everything else, follow the instructions included with each product. As with any chemical service, carry out a patch test beforehand.
- Consultation and preparation. Check the lashes, ask about sensitivities and agree on the curl the client wants. Cleanse the lashes so they are free of make-up and oil.
- Protect the lower lashes. Isolate the lower lashes as you usually would, so they cannot stick to the upper ones.
- Place the pad. Choose a silicone pad that fits the lash length and position it close to the lash line.
- Lift and separate with Gooey. Use Gooey as described in its instructions to lay the lashes onto the pad and hold them in place. Take your time to separate each lash cleanly.
- Apply Step 1 over the whole lash. Spread Noemi Step 1 with Cysteamine evenly over the entire lash and leave it for 10–14 minutes.
- Continue with the next steps. Remove Step 1 and proceed with the fixing and nourishing steps of your system. In the Noemi Lash Lift Kit with Cysteamine, Step 2 sets the shape in 5–8 minutes; any tint goes on after Step 2, before the nourishing Step 3.
- Release and finish. Remove the pad gently, comb the lashes into shape and check both eyes for symmetry.
If you prefer to order the full routine at once, the Noemi Lash Lift Kit with Cysteamine (Step 1–3) contains all three lotions, and Noemi lists Gooey as its glue-free partner.
Choosing the right silicone pad for a Gooey lift
Gooey changes how the lashes stay on the pad, not which pad you need. The choice still depends on lash length, growth direction and the curl you want. As a rule, a pad that is too large gives an exaggerated curl, while a pad that is too small leaves the lift flat.

Gooey vs glue vs balm: which method suits you?
There is no single right way to attach lashes to a pad. Each method has its place, and many studios keep more than one on the trolley.
| Method | How lashes stay on the pad | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gooey powder | A powder replaces the adhesive | No glue stage and no adhesive residue; designed for the cysteamine Step 1, compatible with other lotions |
| Classic lash lift glue | Adhesive painted onto the pad | Familiar to most artists; drying time and residue need managing |
| Lash lift balm | A creamy balm that stays workable | Lets you adjust lashes while you work; useful for stubborn lashes |
| Glue-free system lotions | The system itself is built to work without glue | A complete method rather than a single accessory |
If you like the flexibility of a balm, our article on using Early Balm Pro instead of glue explains that method. For a complete glue-free system, see the Noemi Freelift instructions. Gooey sits between the two: you keep your favourite pads, and only the attachment step changes.
Common mistakes with lash lift powder
Most problems with a new method come from old habits. These are the ones to watch for when you start working with Gooey.
- Working on lashes that are not clean. Oil and make-up residue affect how well lashes sit on the pad and how evenly the lotion works. Cleanse first, every time.
- Rushing the separation. Without the pressure of drying glue, there is no reason to hurry. Crossed lashes on the pad become crossed lashes in the result.
- Applying Step 1 like a zone lotion. Step 1 with Cysteamine is designed to cover the entire lash. Leaving the tips bare goes against the product instructions.
- Ignoring the timing. Stay within the 10–14 minutes stated for Step 1 and use a timer for each eye.
- Choosing the wrong pad size. Gooey does not correct a pad that does not fit. Check the size before you start placing lashes.
- Leaving the container open. Noemi asks you to keep it closed after use. A tidy routine protects the product between clients.
Storage and hygiene at your lash station
Keep Gooey closed and dry when you are not using it, and store it away from heat and humidity, as you would with most powders. Take out only what you need for the client in front of you, so the rest of the container stays clean.
Use clean or disposable tools for each client and wash your silicone pads with warm water and soap right after the treatment.
Aftercare and client communication
Explain to the client that the method is glue-free and that the lotion is applied over the whole lash. Many clients find that reassuring, especially those who have had a lift before and remember sticky residue.
Give clear home-care advice at the end and recommend the Noemi Brow & Lash Argan Creme, a nourishing cream with argan oil and vitamins developed for lashes and brows after lifting and colouring. It is gentle enough for daily use and easy to retail at the front desk.

FAQ: Gooey lash lift powder
Can you do a lash lift without glue?
Yes. Gooey replaces the glue or balm that normally attaches the lashes to the pad. Combined with Noemi Step 1 with Cysteamine, it allows a lash lift without any adhesive.
Does Gooey work with other lash lift lotions?
Noemi describes Gooey as compatible with lash lifting lotions in general. It is, however, specifically designed for the cysteamine-based Step 1, so that is the combination the brand recommends.
How long does Noemi Step 1 with Cysteamine stay on?
The stated processing time is 10–14 minutes. The lotion is applied evenly over the entire lash, then you continue with the next steps of your system.
How much powder is in one container of Gooey?
One container holds 5 g, which Noemi describes as enough for multiple applications.
Do I still need a patch test with a cysteamine lotion?
Yes. Cysteamine is presented as a gentler alternative to TGA-based lotions, but a lash lift remains a chemical service. Carry out a patch test and follow the instructions included with the product.
Which pads should I use with Gooey?
Use the pad that suits the client’s lash length and growth direction. Pinky, Elasticky and Premium 2.0 suit long or downward-growing lashes; Rainbow suits shorter lashes.
