Silicone Lash Lift Pads: How to Choose the Right Set and Size

Lash lift pads are the soft silicone shields you place on the eyelid to hold the natural lashes in shape while the lotions process. The pad decides the final curl more than any other tool: too large and the lift looks flat, too small and the lashes come out over-curled. Choosing the right set and the right size is therefore the quickest way to make your lifts more consistent.

In short: pick the set by lash length and growth direction, then pick the size within that set by lash length and eye shape. Noemi offers three main silicone sets for this: Pinky and Elasticky for long, multi-layered or downward-growing lashes, and Rainbow for short lashes that need a strong lift. This guide explains how each works, how to size them, and how to place and care for them.

What a silicone lash lift pad does (and how it differs from a rod)

A silicone pad is a curved shield that sits on the upper lid, close to the lash line. You comb the lashes up onto its surface, fix them there and apply the lifting lotions. The shape of the pad becomes the shape of the lash.

Rods work on the same principle but usually look different: they tend to be thinner, firmer shapes that give a more defined curl type, such as the C or LC curls used in Korean-style lifts. Pads are generally wider and softer and follow the lid more closely. If you want to compare both systems in detail, read our guide to lash lift rods, curls and sizes.

Many artists keep both in the studio. Silicone pads remain the classic choice for a natural, open lift, especially on long or downward-growing lashes where you need enough surface to separate and place every layer.

The three Noemi silicone pad sets for upper lashes

Pinky silicone pads: long, multi-layered and downward lashes

The Noemi Pinky silicone pads are made for long, multi-layered and downward-growing lashes. The mix box contains 4 pairs in S, M, L and XL. The pads are soft, matte silicone in a unique shape, and they stay on the lid without glue.

Pinky is a good first set if most of your clients have medium to long lashes. Four sizes cover the common range without overloading your station.

Elasticky silicone pads: the same lash type with finer size steps

The Noemi Elasticky pads are also designed for long, layered and downward-growing lashes, but the mix box holds 6 pairs: XS, S, M, M1, L and XL. The extra XS and the intermediate M1 let you fine-tune the fit when a client sits between two sizes.

As a rule, more sizes mean fewer compromises. If you lift a lot of long lashes and often hesitate between M and L, Elasticky gives you an in-between option.

Rainbow silicone pads: short lashes and a strong lift

The Noemi Silicone Pads Rainbow are the set for short lashes. They give a strong lift and also work on naturally curved or straight lashes. The box holds 6 pairs in neon colours: SS, S, M, L, LL and XL, again with no glue needed on the lid.

Short lashes are where a lift most often disappoints, because the lash simply does not reach far enough up a large pad. The small SS and S sizes in the Rainbow box help you get a visible result on these clients.

How to choose the right set by lash length and growth direction

Before you reach for a pad, look at the natural lashes for a few seconds without make-up. Three questions usually point you to the right set:

  • How long are the lashes? Short lashes point to Rainbow. Medium to long lashes point to Pinky or Elasticky.
  • Which way do they grow? Lashes that grow straight down or in several layers need a pad with enough surface to hold every layer: Pinky or Elasticky.
  • Are they already curved or straight? Naturally curved or straight lashes that need a strong, visible lift often do well on Rainbow.

Mixed cases are common. A client may have long lashes in the centre and very short ones in the inner corner. In that situation, choose the set for the majority of the lashes and work the short inner lashes carefully onto the lower part of the pad.

How to choose the pad size within a set

Once you have the set, the size is about the relationship between lash length and pad height. As a rule of thumb, many artists aim for the lash tips to reach roughly the middle to the top of the pad once the lashes are combed up.

  1. Compare by eye first. Hold two neighbouring sizes against the closed eye and compare how far the longest lashes would reach.
  2. Pad too big: the tips stay low on the pad and the lift looks softer or flatter than expected.
  3. Pad too small: the tips hang over the top edge and fold, which can lead to a crimped, over-curled look.
  4. Check the eye shape. Deep-set or hooded lids sometimes need a slightly smaller pad so it sits flat; a wide, open lid can often take a larger one.
  5. Compare both eyes. Lash length often differs from left to right, so do not assume the same size for both sides.

Write the set and size on the client card. At the next appointment you start from a known result and only adjust if the lashes or the client’s wishes have changed.

The Noemi Silicone pads 2.0 Premium contain 8 pairs in two lines. S, M, L and XL give a stronger, boosted effect; S1, M1, L1 and XL1 give a softer, rounded effect. This is useful in consultation: you can show the client both shapes and let them choose between a bold and a more natural curl.

The Multi Color Soft Silicone Pads are a fine, ultra-soft hybrid set for all lash types and eye shapes, with 6 upper pairs from S to XXL plus 1 pair for the lower lashes. If you want a single box that covers almost every client, this is the all-rounder.

Placing the pad without glue on the lid

All the Noemi sets above are designed to stay on the eyelid without glue. That keeps set-up quick and makes removal more comfortable for the client.

  1. Cleanse the lashes and lid so they are free of oil and make-up, then let them dry.
  2. Ask the client to close their eyes gently and relax the face.
  3. Place the pad as close to the lash line as possible without trapping lashes underneath it.
  4. Press lightly along the length of the pad so it follows the curve of the lid, from the inner to the outer corner.
  5. Check that the pad does not touch the waterline and that no lower lashes are caught on top of it.

If a pad keeps moving, the lid may still be oily, or the size may be wrong for the eye shape. Cleanse again or try the neighbouring size before reaching for anything stronger.

Keeping stubborn lashes on the pad with Glue Balm Strong

The pad itself needs no glue, but the lashes still need to stay where you comb them. For this, many artists use a balm instead of a classic glue. Noemi Glue Balm Strong is a “glue without glue” balm in a stronger formula that holds the lashes firmly on the pad, which helps with stubborn or slippery lashes.

According to Noemi, the balm does not dry completely during the treatment, so you can still make adjustments while straightening the lashes. Apply a thin layer to the pad, then lift and separate the lashes onto it in small sections.

Prefer to work without glue or balm at all? Our Gooey lash lift powder guide explains a powder-based alternative.

Cleaning and storing silicone pads

Noemi’s instructions for every set are the same: clean the pads immediately after each use with warm water and soap. Silicone is reusable, so good cleaning is what keeps your pads hygienic and in shape for many clients.

  • Rinse off balm and lotion residue straight after the service, before it sets.
  • Wash with warm water and soap, rinse well and let the pads dry completely.
  • Store each set in its box, lying flat, so the curves do not deform.
  • Keep sizes sorted. A mixed-up pile of pads slows you down and leads to the wrong size.

Common mistakes with lash lift pads

  • Pad too big for the lashes: the lashes do not reach high enough and the result looks flat or weak.
  • Pad too small: the tips bend over the top edge, which can cause crimping or an over-curled look.
  • Pad placed too far from the lash line: the base of the lash is not lifted and a kink can form.
  • Lashes crossed or twisted on the pad: they stay crossed after the lift. Take the time to separate them before applying lotion.
  • Same size for both eyes out of habit: check each eye separately.
  • Skipping safety steps: do a patch test where required and follow the instructions included with your lifting lotions.

Building a pad collection for your salon

You do not need every set from day one. A practical approach is to start with one set for long lashes (Pinky or Elasticky) and one for short lashes (Rainbow). Together they cover most clients who book a lift.

Add Premium 2.0 when you want to offer clients a choice between a boosted and a rounded curl. Add the Multi Color box as a versatile backup, or if you work in several rooms and need a complete set at each station. Our lash lift kit checklist lists the other accessories a professional set needs.

If you also lift lower lashes, plan for dedicated lower-lash pads. The Noemi Lower Lashes Patch protects the skin during lifting and tinting and shapes the lower lashes at the same time, and the lower lash pads A-B-C come as 3 pairs. Our lower lash lift guide covers the full workflow.

FAQ: lash lift pads

Which lash lift pad size should I use?

As a rule, choose the size so that the combed-up lash tips reach roughly the middle to the top of the pad. If the tips stay low, try one size smaller; if they fold over the top edge, try one size larger. Check each eye separately.

Are silicone lash lift pads reusable?

Yes. The Noemi silicone pads are reusable. Clean them immediately after each use with warm water and soap, rinse and let them dry before storing.

Do I need glue to attach the pads to the eyelid?

No. The Noemi sets are designed to stay on the lid without glue. To hold the lashes on the pad, many artists use a balm such as Glue Balm Strong.

Which pads are best for short lashes?

The Rainbow set is made for short lashes and gives a strong lift. Its six sizes start at SS, which helps you fit very short lashes.

What is the difference between lash lift pads and rods?

Pads are wider, soft silicone shields that follow the lid, while rods are usually firmer shapes designed for a specific curl type. Both hold the lashes during processing; the choice depends on the result you want.

Why are my client’s lashes crimped after a lift?

A pad that is too small is a frequent cause: the tips fold over the edge during processing. Other causes include placing the pad too far from the lash line or leaving the lotion on longer than the product instructions state.
