Early Balm Pro is a lash lift balm: a creamy, non-drying fixer from the Korean brand Early that holds the natural lashes on the rod during a lash lift, in place of traditional lash lift glue. It comes in a 15ml tube and is designed to work with Early Dumpling Rods as well as all professional lash lift systems. If you searched for “Early balm” or “lash lift balm vs glue”, the short answer is this: glue sets hard and gives you one chance to place each lash, while a balm stays flexible, so you can keep adjusting, and it washes away with water at the end of the service.
Below: what a lash lift balm is, how it compares with glue, and how to use it step by step in an Early Korean lash lift. All product details and times come from the Early product information.
What is a lash lift balm?
In every lash lift, something has to hold the natural lashes against the silicone rod while the lotions work. For years that job belonged to lash lift glue: a thin adhesive brushed onto the rod, onto which the lashes are lifted and pressed one section at a time. Glue works, but it can dry before a section is finished, leave a flaky residue, and once set it does not let you move a single lash.
A lash lift balm does the same job with a different texture. Instead of a liquid that dries into a film, it is a rich, creamy fixer that stays soft and tacky for the whole wrapping phase. The lashes stick to it but are never locked in, which suits the Korean lash lift technique and its fanned, separated result.
Early Balm Pro: what the product does
Early describes Balm Pro as a next-generation lash lift balm for artists who do not want to choose between a strong hold and the health of the natural lash. According to the product information, these are its key properties:
- “Mochi-Grip” adhesion: an instant, strong tack that mirrors the soft, stretchy nature of the Early Dumpling Rods. It is made to grip even stubborn, downward-growing lashes and hold them firmly throughout the entire chemical process.
- Stays workable: the creamy texture stays flexible while you work, which gives you time to align, separate and tension every lash on the rod for a clean “fan” effect.
- Micro-adjustments at any time: because the balm does not set into a hard layer like traditional glue, you can use a lash tool or a Y-comb to correct individual lashes at any point during the wrapping phase.
- Lets the lotions penetrate: thick glues can stop lifting lotions from reaching the hair. Balm Pro’s lightweight formula is designed to let the solutions process evenly, for a consistent curl from root to tip.
- Treatment-first formula: it is enriched with nourishing ingredients that form a protective barrier, so the lashes do not become dry or brittle during lifting and neutralising.
- Rinses off with water: at the end of the service it washes away with water, leaving the lashes soft, shiny and curled.
- 15ml tube: the tube is hygienic and protects the product from oxidising, so the consistency stays the same from the first use to the last.
Two tools pair well with it. The Early Dumpling Rods are soft “mochi” silicone I-curl rods that suction to the eyelid. The Early King Brush, with a 1.2 cm flat edge, is engineered for thick lash balms and tensions a wide section of lashes in one stroke.

Lash lift balm vs glue: the comparison
The table below compares the properties of Early Balm Pro with those of a typical traditional lash lift glue. It describes texture and handling only; both can give a good lift in experienced hands.
| Property | Early Balm Pro (lash lift balm) | Traditional lash lift glue |
|---|---|---|
| Texture | Rich, creamy, non-drying, flexible | Liquid that dries into a film |
| Working time | Stays workable through the whole wrapping phase | Can dry before a section is finished |
| Corrections | Micro-adjustments with a lash tool or Y-comb at any time | Once set, a lash usually has to be lifted and re-glued |
| Lotion penetration | Lightweight formula lets solutions process evenly | A thick layer can block the lotion from reaching the hair |
| Residue | No hard layer; nourishing, protective film | Can leave a flaky residue |
| Removal | Washes away with water | Depends on the product; follow its instructions |
| Best for | Korean lash lift, fanned and separated results, beginners who need time | Artists used to a classic glue workflow |
In practice, with glue you place a section quickly before it grabs; with a balm you place, look, then refine. That means cleaner separation and fewer criss-crossed roots.
How to use Early Balm Pro in an Early Korean lash lift
This procedure combines Balm Pro with Dumpling Rods, Early Step 1, Step 2 and the pH Multipack, with times from each product’s instructions. Follow your training and salon protocol, including consultation and patch test.
- Prepare the lashes. Cleanse lashes and lid of make-up and oil; protect the lower lashes.
- Choose and place the rod. Select a Dumpling Rod that fits the client’s lash length and eye shape, and place it as close to the lash line as possible. The soft silicone suctions to the lid naturally.
- Apply the balm. Spread a thin, even layer of Early Balm Pro on the surface of the rod where the lashes will rest.
- Lift and tension the lashes. Using a lash tool, Y-comb or the King Brush, lift the lashes onto the rod section by section and brush them upwards so each lash stands straight from the root.
- Refine. Because the balm stays flexible, check the whole lash line and correct any lash that is crossed, bent or out of line before you apply any lotion.
- Apply Step 1. Dispense Early Step 1 Softening Lotion with the pump and apply it evenly to the lashes secured on the rod, keeping it at the base and away from the delicate tips. Process for 6 to 8 minutes, depending on lash thickness; if further softening is needed, the instructions allow an additional 2 to 5 minutes.
- Remove Step 1. Wipe it off carefully with a clean applicator or a dry cotton swab.
- Optional: pH Multipack, option A. Apply a small amount of the pH Multipack, let it process for 1 to 2 minutes, then wipe clean. Used here as a clinic step between the lotions, it helps to mitigate initial damage.
- Apply Step 2. Make sure the lashes are still perfectly positioned, then apply Early Step 2 Setting Lotion evenly, matching the placement of Step 1. Process for 5 to 7 minutes, depending on the thickness of the natural lashes.
- Remove Step 2. Wipe it off thoroughly with a clean, dry applicator.
- pH Multipack, option B. As a final repair and finishing step, apply the pH Multipack after Step 2 has been removed and let it process for 5 to 10 minutes. Gently wipe away any excess.
- Release and clean. Remove the balm with water, gently free the lashes from the rod and take the rod off the lid. The lashes should be soft, shiny and evenly curled.

| Fixing | Early Balm Pro | Stays workable during wrapping |
| Softening | Early Step 1 Softening Lotion | 6–8 min, plus 2–5 min if needed |

Early Step 1 contains both cysteamine and thioglycolate and has a neutral pH of 7.5. If you want to understand how those two actives behave, read our article on cysteamine vs thioglycolate lash lift. Step 2 uses sodium bromate to re-link the hair bonds and, according to the product information, locks in a lift that lasts 6 to 8 weeks.
The Early pH Multipack Balance restores a pH of 4.5 to 5.5 after the alkaline lotions and closes the cuticle. Use option A, option B or both.

Practical tips for working with a lash lift balm
Use less than you think
A thin layer holds the lashes. Too much makes the surface slippery, so start small and add only if a section does not hold.
Keep the lotions where they belong
The Early lotions are firm, non-drip creams. Apply them at the base and avoid the fragile tips; a flat brush such as the King Brush helps.
Pick the right rod for the result
The Dumpling Rods are an I-curl shape that stretches the lashes upwards for maximum height, which suits short or downward-pointing lashes. For other curl shapes, see our lash lift rods guide. Balm Pro is compatible with all professional lash lift systems, so you can use it with your other rods too.
Who should switch from glue to balm?
A balm makes the most sense if you want the fanned look of a Korean lash lift, often fix crossed lashes after placement, or still need more working time. Fast artists happy with glue do not have to switch, but the freedom to correct lashes at any moment and the water rinse at the end make the service calmer.

FAQ
What is Early Balm Pro?
Early Balm Pro is a lash lift balm from the Korean brand Early: a creamy, non-drying fixer in a 15ml tube that holds the natural lashes on the rod during a lash lift, as an alternative to traditional lash lift glue.
Is a lash lift balm better than glue?
It is different rather than universally better. A balm stays flexible, allows micro-adjustments, lets the lotions penetrate evenly and rinses off with water. For the Korean technique and precise separation it is the more comfortable choice.
Can I use Early Balm Pro with other rods?
Yes. It is optimised for Early Dumpling Rods and compatible with all professional lash lift systems.
How long should Step 2 stay on when I use Early Balm Pro?
The balm does not change the lotion times. Early Step 2 Setting Lotion is processed for 5 to 7 minutes, depending on the thickness of the natural lashes. Always follow the instructions of the lotion you use.
How do I remove the balm after the lift?
Early Balm Pro washes away with water at the end of the service. Remove it before releasing the lashes from the rod, then take the rod off the lid.
