Brow soap is a solid styling product that you brush through the brows with a spoolie to push the hairs up and set them in place. It gives that fluffy, brushed-up, laminated look in a couple of minutes, with no chemicals and nothing that stays in the hair once it is washed off. If you searched for “brow soap” (or “wenkbrauwzeep”, as Dutch-speaking clients call it), here is the short answer: it is a styling step, not a treatment.
For a brow artist, it is both the quickest way to finish an appointment with a lifted shape and one of the easiest home-care products to sell. This guide explains how to use brow soap step by step, how it compares with a brow styling gel such as Noemi Browmi, and when a client is better served by a real brow lamination instead.
What brow soap is and how it works
Classic brow soaps are firm, waxy styling bars. The spoolie picks up a thin film, the film coats each hair, and the hairs stay where you brush them. Because the product dries to a light, flexible hold, the brows look full and textured rather than glued down.
The Noemi Brow Soap is described by Noemi as a hybrid styling soap. Two details matter for your daily work:
- No pre-wetting needed. Many brow soaps have to be activated with water or a setting spray first. Noemi’s formula is designed to work without pre-wetting, which keeps the end of an appointment quick and clean.
- Adjustable effect. You decide how strong the look is, from a soft, groomed finish to a more lifted, laminated-look shape, simply by how much product you pick up and how you brush.
The soap is enriched with silk proteins, which according to the manufacturer moisturise and support the elasticity and suppleness of the hair, and it leaves a healthy shine rather than a matte, stiff finish. Each pack gives enough product for hundreds of applications, so one unit lasts a long time on a styling station.
How to use brow soap: step by step
The technique is simple, but a few details make the difference between fluffy and flaky. This is a reliable routine for the studio, and the same steps work for clients at home.
- Start with clean, dry brows. Makeup, sunscreen or skin oil underneath will stop the soap from gripping. If you have just finished a tint or a lamination, make sure the brows are fully cleaned and dry.
- Use a clean spoolie. A dense spoolie gives more control; a softer one gives a more diffused, fluffy finish.
- Pick up a small amount. Swipe the spoolie over the surface of the soap two or three times. With Noemi Brow Soap there is no need to wet it first. Start with less product; you can always build up.
- Brush the front hairs straight up. Begin at the inner corner and brush vertically. This is where the laminated look starts, so take your time here.
- Work through the body of the brow. Brush up and slightly outwards, section by section, following the direction you want the shape to take.
- Press to set. Gently press the hairs flat with the side of the spoolie or a clean fingertip. Pressing is what gives the sleek, laminated effect; skip it for a more natural, textured look.
- Shape the tail. Brush the tail hairs outwards and slightly down along the natural line, so the brow does not look too vertical overall.
- Refine and finish. Use a second clean spoolie to soften any heavy spots. Fill sparse areas with the Noemi Brown Pencil if needed.
Brow soap vs brow styling gel
Brow soap and brow gel do the same basic job, holding hairs in place, but they feel and look different. Many artists keep both on the station and choose per client.
Noemi Brow Soap is applied with your own spoolie and gives you full control over the amount and the direction. It is the better choice when the goal is the brushed-up, laminated look, especially on thicker, coarser or unruly hair that needs to be moulded into place.
Noemi Brow Styling Gel Browmi comes in a 5ml format with a precision mascara-style brush. Noemi describes a strong hold without stiffness or stickiness, so brows look naturally full and groomed all day. Because the brush is built in, application is fast and even, which suits clients who want a soft everyday groom or a bold, defined brow without learning a technique.
As a rule of thumb:
- choose soap for maximum lift, a sculpted laminated effect and adjustable intensity;
- choose Browmi for speed, an all-day groomed finish and simple handling for beginners;
- combine them if you like: soap to set the shape, a light touch of gel on the tail or on stubborn hairs.

Brow soap vs brow lamination
This is the question clients ask most: “Can I just use soap instead of a lamination?” The honest answer is that it depends on what they want and how much time they are willing to spend each morning.
Brow soap is a temporary styling product. It sits on the surface of the hair and comes off when the client washes their face. Brow lamination is a chemical service: a lifting lotion softens the hair structure, the hairs are brushed into their new direction, and a fixing lotion sets them in that shape. As a rule, the result stays in place for weeks rather than hours, depending on the hair and on aftercare.
Lamination is usually the better recommendation when:
- the hairs are very coarse, curly or grow downwards and fall back within an hour of styling;
- the client wants the laminated look every day without styling at home;
- there are gaps that can be covered by redirecting existing hairs.
Brow soap is usually enough when the client only wants the look on certain days, has fine or soft hair that holds easily, prefers to avoid a chemical service, or is between two laminations.
If you offer lamination, the Noemi Innovate Cysteamine Set covers both steps for lashes and brows, with a processing time of 8–12 minutes per step according to the product information, and includes an Argan Creme for aftercare. The reusable Noemi Silicone Brow Patch holds the hairs in place for even product distribution during the service. For the full procedure, see our brow lamination step-by-step guide. As with every chemical service, carry out a patch test beforehand and follow the instructions included with the product.

Using brow soap after tint or lamination
Brow soap is an ideal finishing touch after a colour or lamination appointment. After a tint, it styles the freshly coloured hairs so the client sees the final shape you designed; Noemi recommends Browmi in the same role. If you want to read more about colour itself, our guide to hybrid, gel and liquid tints goes into detail.
After a lamination, the hairs are already set, so you need very little product, if any. Follow the instructions of your lamination system for how long the client should avoid water, heat and products afterwards.
Aftercare: keeping brows soft and healthy
Daily styling is gentle, but laminated or regularly tinted brows benefit from care. Two Noemi products fit naturally into a brow routine:
- Noemi Brow & Lash Argan Creme was developed as a final care step after colouring and lamination. It contains argan, castor, olive and rosehip oil plus vitamin E, and it is suitable for daily use, which makes it an easy home-care recommendation.
- Noemi Vitamin Brow & Lash Filler is a concentrated care treatment with hydrolysed keratin and jojoba proteins, vitamins A, B and E and provitamin B5. In a brow lamination it is applied between step 2 and step 3, or it can be booked as a treatment on its own for dry or stressed hair.
Advise clients to remove brow soap every evening so product does not build up.
Selling brow soap as home care
Brow soap is one of the easiest retail products in a brow studio, because the result is visible in seconds. A few simple habits help:
- Style with it at the end of every brow service. When the client likes what they see, explain that it is the same product they can use at home.
- Show the technique in the mirror. Let the client do one brow themselves while you watch. Confidence sells better than any description.
- Match the product to the client. Soap for those who love the laminated look, Browmi for clients who want a quick, no-fuss routine.
Since one pack of Noemi Brow Soap is designed for hundreds of applications, clients will not need a refill very often, so the real value lies in the satisfaction and loyalty it builds. You will find all brow products in our shop.

FAQ: brow soap
Do I need to wet brow soap before use?
Many brow soaps need water or a setting spray to activate them. Noemi Brow Soap is designed to work without pre-wetting: simply swipe a clean spoolie over the soap and brush it through dry brows.
Is brow soap the same as brow lamination?
No. Brow soap creates a laminated look that lasts until the face is washed. Lamination is a chemical service that reshapes the hair, so the effect usually lasts for weeks. Soap is a good option for clients who want the look without chemicals or between appointments.
Why does my brow soap leave white flakes?
Usually because too much product was picked up, or because it was applied over makeup or skin oil. Use less soap, start on clean brows and brush through with a clean spoolie to soften heavy spots.
Brow soap or styling gel: which is better for clients?
It depends on the client. Soap gives a stronger, adjustable laminated look and suits coarse or unruly hair. A gel such as Browmi, with its precision brush, is faster and easier for daily use. Many clients use both.
